About us

What is AMC?

In the year 2014 five Austrian universities joined forces to form the Academic Moodle Cooperation (AMC):

  • Medical University of Vienna
  • University of Graz
  • University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna
  • University of Vienna
  • Vienna University of Technology

The purpose of the cooperation is to ensure long-term operation, maintenance, advancement and support of Moodle and its related services as well as to create synergies for the most efficient use of the partnership institutions' resources.

In 2016 a working group on streaming tasks was established within the AMC. The University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Technology are cooperating in this group, both universities use Opencast.

The mission of this working group is to intensify cooperation and knowledge exchange on streaming-related issues, especially Opencast. Software developments that add features around Opencast are created within the working group. In the long run these developments should become available to the whole Opencast community.

Why is the AMC hosting this event?

Because we were asked to do so. Greetings to Olaf Schulte ;)

And because it’s a good opportunity for us to become more visible in the community. The University of Vienna has been focusing on Opencast as its future streaming solution since 2016. The Vienna University of Technology has already got six years of experience in using Opencast for lecture recording. And the AMC working group has finished its first software developments. So it’s a good time to intensify exchange and, hopefully, cooperation.
